Craft Webinar: Raising Funds for Author/Illustrator School Visits

Join author Amanda Davis for a collaborative approach on how to gather funding for author/illustrator visits!

From state and national grants to funding from local cultural councils, in this workshop, author/illustrator and educator Amanda Davis will review the multitude of ways you can work with educators, librarians, etc. to help them find sources to fund an author/illustrator visit with you! Amanda will show examples of ways you can work with educators to create meaningful lessons before, during, and after your visit based on projects she completed with her own students in connection with visits from authors/illustrators. Amanda will also cover miscellaneous items you may need to complete in preparation for your school visit such as a CORI background check, supplying invoices, and registering for a taxpayer identification number in order to receive payment for your visit.

Amanda Davis Faculty

Amanda Davis is a teacher, artist, writer, and innovator who uses her words and pictures to light up the world with kindness. Amanda is the recipient of the 2020 Ann Whitford Paul—Writer’s Digest Most Promising Picture Book Manuscript Grant and teaches art at a public high school in Massachusetts where she was selected as 2020 Secondary Art Educator of the Year. Amanda is the author of 30,000 STITCHES: THE INSPIRING STORY OF THE NATIONAL 9/11 FLAG and has poetry and illustrations in The Writers’ Loft Anthology, FRIENDS AND ANEMONES: OCEAN POEMS FOR CHILDREN. When she’s not busy creating, you can find her sipping tea, petting dogs, and exploring the natural wonders of The Bay State with her partner and her rescue pup, Cora. Class recordings will be made available only to those who cannot make the class, including those for whom last-minute tech issues (wifi access, etc.) prevents them from participating. Recordings are available for two weeks following the class date, then deleted.
