Make 'Em Famous: A Craft Webinar on PB Biographies with Nancy Churnin
How do you write about unfamiliar heroes in a way that will make the kids want to know them? Many of Nancy Churnin's stories are about people that the kids never heard of before they read the stories.
On the one hand, that can be a marketing challenge, as you can't "sell" their name the way you can if they are commercially recognizable. But it's also a thrill when the story itself makes the character famous in a child's heart. And it gives an opportunity for a child that feels ordinary to remember that ordinary people just like them can change the world for the better. All you need is a dream and persistence.
This webinar will provide examples from books by a variety of authors that have done this successfully.
