Short Story Workshop (ages 15-17)

The Short Story Workshop:

A 4-week Online Class for Ages 15-17

Each session begins with a discussion of a story that students have read over the preceding week. Then, there will be a craft lesson based on that story (e.g. character development, building a mood, pacing). Over the course of the 4-week class, students will write their own story and submit it to the instructor for feedback. In each session, there will be time for Q&A, and students will also have the chance to read some of their work aloud for the group.

For the last class, we’ll be joined by Tanya Aydelott, whose young adult short story "Flight" was selected by Jandy Nelson for inclusion in the online magazine Foreshadow: A Serial YA Anthologyand will be published in print in Foreshadow: The Magic of Reading and Writing YA, edited by Emily X.R. Pan and Nova Ren Suma, forthcoming from Algonquin Books.
